Great fundraising ideas
The first step in planning your fundraising event or activity is deciding what you want to do. We’ve put together a few fundraising ideas and helpful hints to help you.
Sporty challenges
On your marks….get set…go!
You could organise, or take part in a sponsored jog round the park, a river swim or a set off on a mountain hike to support WheelPower!
Whatever you’re planning, make sure you’ve got the right equipment and a sponsorship form – why not set one up online? And remember, if you need some advice on your event you can contact our fundraising team once you’ve signed up to fundraise for us!
Why not check out some of our runs, treks, bike rides – you could even skydive!
A few ideas: sponsored fun run, 24 hour spin, rowathon, abseil, 26 mile marathon walk.
Raffles, quizzes and bingo
You could organise a bingo night, Grand National sweepstake, a tombola, a community treasure hunt or a good old fashioned raffle.
If you’re organising a raffle , it’s a good idea to refer to your local authority or the Gambling Commission to make sure your event is safe and legal. You can also order some of our handy resources to help promote your fundraising.
Dinner parties and cake sales
Everyone loves getting together over food. Every cake you sell or canapé you serve will help us to get more disabled people active.
A few ideas: curry night, a dinner party, afternoon tea-party or a cake sale at work?
Pamper evenings and craft events
Get your friends together for a night or pampering or you can use your creative flair and organise an inspired event like a concert, art sale, or craft stall
If you’re holding a concert or event, getting as many people interested as possible will be the key. Tell the world! Advertise in your local newspaper and on your local radio. Spread the word on social media (make sure you tag us in) to help reach a much wider audience.
The secret to raising more money is promoting your event – talk to our fundraising team or order some of our free fundraising resources to help!
A few ideas: pottery evening, art sale, concert, pamper sessions, craft stall.
Big events
Organising a big event? Contact our fundraising team and we can help you make your dream a reality with the support and advice you need.
Make sure you start planning early so that you have enough time to organise everything you need (this may mean that you start planning nine or ten months before your event). Think about who your target audience is going to be. Make sure everyone knows what you are doing by speaking to the local press, and sharing details on social media.
There are lots of ways to maximise the amount you raise at your event. You could include a raffle, a tombola or fun games like ‘heads or tails’.
A few ideas: elegant dinner party, a charity ball, a fashion show, a five a side tournament or a big quiz.
